    9月11日,同济大学设计创意学院(D&I)师生的创作展——MAD WOOD在上海开幕,现场展示了木材不同于常规栋梁之才,而是具有柔韧可塑性的一面。

    无论是实木还是胶合板,以机械加工、湿弯技术*、冷压技术的实验,木料在设计师手中被随意拿捏,成为功能与造型兼具的创新的设计。


    展览分为三个篇章:能力木(ENERGY.WOOD),层弯木(PLAY.WOOD)和木板凳(ST.WOOD) 构成,并合并展出数字化、参数化辅助设计的时尚饰品。

    能力木(ENERGY.WOOD)是同济大学设计创意学院周洪涛教授的创作,以挑战实木的柔韧性能,展示木材饱含的巨大能量。*湿弯技术是周洪涛教授独创的实木弯曲方式,展览也将展示其工作进程。



    层弯木(PLAY.WOOD)是以基于师生设计概念而深化发展的系列小批量生产的家具。材料采用芬欧汇川(UPM)的环保板材(WISA和GRADA*),家具以当代语言诠释功能和形式的创新。*GRADA是芬欧汇川(UPM)研制的热塑性胶合板。



    木板凳(ST.WOOD)展示部分同济大学设计创意学院(D&I)历届学生以木材为主设计制作的板凳,在对使用功能的思考和辅材的应用上大胆出位,将满满的想象力落在各自的板凳设计上,呈现于家具实物。





    展示作品由同济大学设计创意学院材料与应用创新实验室(Material and Application Design Laboratory, MAD)提供,实验室以探索当代哲匠之艺(Design through making),面对涌现之境(Exploring emerging future)而创造。

    展览由上海同济天地创意设计有限公司和POI共同承办,芬欧汇川提供板材赞助。



    ENERGY  WOOD

    能量木

    周洪涛

    白蜡树被外来昆虫入侵后快速死亡,数以亿计的白蜡树构成严重威胁,并可能对白蜡木造成灭绝。大量原木堆砌,滞留山林,亟需清除和利用。《能量木》利用白蜡木独有的通直纤维,通过对一块木方的切削、弯曲和围合,形成丰富的空间、形态和光影,最大化的传达了一块木料的视觉表现力,使之重获生机。该作品是建立在激活无用资源基础上的重生,是对生态危机的机智解决,是对材料特性的大胆尝试,获得北美林产品协会的认可,其充满能量形态的背景故事令人深省。作品曾展出于美国旧金山设计周、韩国光州双年展、美国工艺中心、夏威夷檀香山艺术博物馆、纽约设计周、设计上海等。

    Energy Wood

    Prof. Hongtao ZHOU

    The ash forest was devastated by invasive insects, causing dry logs piled up and stranded in mountain forests, to be cleaned and utilized. Energy Wood takes advantage of the straight fiber of the ash lumber. The design uses band saw to cut one piece of lumber into noodles from one end and steam bends the strips to create space, gestures and shadows, by manipulating the straight fiber freely. The design reactivates existing idle resource to create value added product and art work to showcase the background story of eco system crisis.

    P1 - 太湖石装饰柜 (900*400*1500mm)

    设计:莫娇

    设计灵感源于太湖石面面玲珑的生动气韵,通过设计将置物功能引导的更具有装饰性,以 UPM的GRADA板材的绿色属性,为家具注入有机的生命力,将对自然的敬仰带入生活。

    《长物志》描述:“太湖石在水中者为贵,岁久被波涛冲击,皆成空石,面面玲珑。”  而太湖石虽有千姿百态,形奇纹美,浑穆古朴的,却是玲珑剔透,灵秀飘逸的更让人觉得超凡脱俗,赏心悦目,更可使观赏者神思悠悠。

    古代造院者好以太湖石点出一方庭院的灵气,借用的是石头变幻莫测的造型,好似活物一般。太湖石“瘦、皱、漏、透”的特点也是现代时尚的诠释,这特征之所以让人们痴迷至今,就源自其富有变幻的生命力。 太湖石装饰柜生动的造型就意欲捕捉这样的活力,营造家具在人和空间中“神思悠悠”的情感交流。

    有机的造型用有机的材质呈现,才使太湖石装饰柜“生命”的概念表里如一。来自芬兰森林的UPM的胶合板不仅表面木纹天然美观,侧面的层次紧实清晰,GRADA系列更提供革新性的热弯方式,便捷加工工艺,提高复杂有机形态的生产效率,让太湖石装饰柜得以工业化生产。

    Taihu Stone Shelf

    Design: MO Jiao

    Inspired by the dainty and exquisite shape of Taihua Stone, the Shelf leads the function of place object from useful to decorative. By Using GRADA material from UPM, it brings vitality to this piece, shows the admiration of the nature in our daily life.

    About Taihu Stone, the description in the book 《The Superfluous Things》 by  Mr. WEN Zhenheng (1586-1645)  says: “ it is more precious of the stone growing in the water, with the waves tossing for uncountable years, the stone becomes exquisitely carved to dainty perforation and hollow shape.” It remains an important element of Chinese garden because it meets the traditional esthetics notion: artifact shall has its own character, more specifically called ‘temperament’, which the more vivid to motivate peoples’ emotion, the more charming and the better, With its organic form, the design of the Taihu Stone Shelf is aiming to catch this momentum to connect the people and space with a conservational object.

    Only the natural material goes along with the Taihu Stone Shelf in order to create the real temperament of its living character. The sustainability and efficiency of GRADA from UPM provide the industrialize manufacture possibility with an organic and emotional appearance.

    P2-P4 - 路易十五酒柜 (1200*480*900, 900*360*900mm)

    路易十五酒柜造型源自洛可可风格的球面柜,以现代数字化的设计语言呈现。巧借横竖隔板的插接形式提供的空间,用于葡萄酒瓶的存放。利用数控切割胶合板材料加工复杂曲线造型,再通过横竖板材边缘线交织出曲面的形态。路易十五酒柜可以满足普通葡萄酒的存放,同时又具有边柜的展示功能,是功能与美观兼顾又具有社交话题效用的家具。

    路易十五酒柜分为两款,大酒柜主要为红白葡萄酒瓶存放而设计;小酒柜主要为香槟瓶的存放而设计。并有彩色款,利用UV打印,实现饰面的彩虹渐变色效果,将路易十五时期的欢愉气质带入现代生活的饮酒气氛中。

    Louis XV Wine rack

    Design: MO Jiao

    Louis XV wine cabinet is designed for storing and displaying wines, it is inspired from Rococo style galbee commode and translated into modern digital esthetic language. Using vertical and horizontal panel to create the cavity space for wine storage. Applying the digital CNC manufacturing to cut the complex curve form of panels and create curving surface by the edges of panels.

    Louis XV wine cabinet can meet the need of storing normal wine bottles and provide display as commode cabinet. It is the furniture with both function and esthetics, further on to creates the social dialogue for the modern life.

    Louis XV wine cabinet includes two models, the big one is designed for red and white wine bottles, the small one is design for champagne bottles. The rainbow model using UV printing to realize the gradient rainbow color, to bringing the amusing temperament of Epoque Louis XV in to drinking atmosphere o modern life.

    P5 – 蒸笼凳 (450x450x600mm)

    从蒸笼中得到启发,坐垫不仅适合年轻人的习惯也可以无限叠加易于收纳。本设计运用于Analog咖啡厅项目,旨在提供一个集手工艺,创造和咖啡点心为一体的空间,项目合作者廖楚菲,同济大学设计创意学院。

    Stack Stool

    Design: Amanda Sutano, ArtCenter College of Design

    The Stack Stool provides a range of ways of sharing seating for social spaces and the modern home. The modular seat can be infinitely stacked, allowing for efficient storage and multi-functional use as a seat, pouf, cushion, or side table. Inspired by the traditional Chinese bamboo steamer, this stool aims to bring back traditional Chinese craft heritage into contemporary daily life. The Stack Stool was an outcome of Sutano’s “Analog: Cafe, Craft, Create” collaboration with Tongji D&I Environmental Design student Liao Chufei in the Future Craft China studio.

    苍穹凳是由教堂的穹顶启发,设计的凳子,是将建筑的美感在家具上进行的再次表达。

    The trigal stool is inspired by the dome of the church, it expresses the beauty of the architecture on the furniture.

    在自然界找到最原始的休憩方式,树桩,解构所有元素,弃冗从真,带到现代家居生活中来。

    S1 - 线面凳 (400*400*600mm)

    借鉴经典悬拉索结构,使作品呈现一种中间悬空的特殊效果,在绳索的拉力作用下也实现了一种“缓冲”效果,呈现一种有趣且不一样的坐凳体验。

    Line & Surface Stool

    By using the classical suspension system to present a hanging seat effect, and also achieves a “buffering” effect under the pulling force of the rope, presenting an interesting and different experience of sitting on a wooden stool.

    S2 - Suite Stool(500*400*450mm)

    用叠放的方式以节省空间的现代家具中,大多数在节省空间的同时也在浪费空间。基于空间的叠加和拆分使用场景,我设计了一款三合一的凳子,可用于独自或多人使用。这三把凳子都可以合并或独立使用,并且其中的任意两把可组合使用。以解决消费者对于空间和多功能的凳子的需求。基于生产制造和安装的考虑,这款凳子采用简洁的外形,用于平板包装和快速拼装。

    作品荣获2020年度意大利A’设计大奖

    Among the modern furniture stacked up to save space, most of them save space while wasting. Based on the scene of stacking up as well as splitting place, I designed a 3-in-1 stool, which can be used by a single person or more. To solve the issue of space and multifunction for consumers, I designed the three stools which can be used separately or as a whole, meanwhile, any two of the stools are able to combine. Based on manufacture and installation considerations, the stools have a compact shape for flat packaging and quick assembly.

    S3 - 弹弹椅 (450*300*450mm)

    由多层薄木板压制而成,橡胶球作为支撑结构同时提供弹力,为简约的凳子增添几分趣味。

    弹弹椅获得2016年度红点概念奖.

    Bouncing Stool

    It is made of multi-layer thin wood, and the rubber ball as a supporting structure provides elasticity, which adds a bit of fun to the simple stool.

    Bouncing Stool won 2016 Red Dot Concept Award.


    S4 - 马里亚纳(480*580*700mm)

    吴依辰

    通过腰下方与大腿根部的受⼒,让久坐受压的尾骨与盆⻣放松下来。从侧面看,坐着的人好像没有坐着,有一种腾空在马里亚纳海沟的感受,十分有趣。

    钢管形成一条完整的贴合人体的环线,利用钢的韧性使坐感具有弹性。

    Mariana

    WU Chenyi

    This stool relaxes the pressured coccyx and pelvis through the support to the waist and the thigh. Seen from the side, sitting people act like not actually sitting with a feeling of sitting above Mariana Trench, which is fun.

    The steel pipe forms a complete loop, which fits the curve of the body. And the toughness of steel achieves a feeling of elasticity.

    S5 - 乐高凳(288*288*288mm)

    诸晓妍

    设计选用废旧乐高作为回收材料。凳腿以兼容乐高小颗粒堆叠而成,凳面使用2cm厚的白蜡木板,两者插接胶合。设计人群主要面向儿童,凳子兼具坐与交互的功能。闲置时可以作为一个小的游戏工作台,凳面上可以搭上积木。

    LEGO STOOL

    ZHU Xiaoyan

    Design selects the waste LEGO as the recycling material. The legs of the stool are stacked with LEGO small particles. The surface of the stool is made of 2cm thick white wax wood board, and the two are connected and glued. This stool is mainly designed for children, and the stool has the functions of both sitting and interaction. When idle the stool surface can be used as a small game workbench, blocks can be built on it.

    S6 - 哥白尼凳(305*350*390mm)

    胡凯

    哥白尼凳 (2016) 灵感源于米兰中央车站外的玻璃雕塑装置,通过轻盈的单体勾勒,即汇聚成了一把坚实的凳子。作品概念之初就希望使用尽可能少的材料以降低家具对环境的污染,最终仅使用了35层木皮的胶合即告完成。哥白尼凳生产简便,亦方便拆卸运输,充满商业潜力。

    作品荣获2016年度意大利A’设计大奖和2017年度美国IDA设计奖。

    Copernico Stool (2016) is inspired by a glass sculpture installation outside Milan Central Station. Through only few units, a strong stool is formed. The stool aimed to use as few materials as possible to reduce furniture pollution. In the end, it only used 35 wood veneer layers. The final concept is easy to manufacture and convenient to transport, which has high business potential.

    Copernico Stool won 2016 Italy A’ Design Awards and 2017 USA International Design Awards.

    S7 - 扭扭凳 (518*449*449mm)

    通过软硬材料结合的设计,使得坐面获得了充气球带来的可调整性和一定的交互性。同时使得使用过程更加舒适和有趣。

    Through the combination of soft and hard materials, the sitting surface can be adjusted and have certain interaction brought by the inflatable ball. It also makes the process more comfortable and fun.

    S8 - 鞍面凳(600*400*500mm)

    鞍面凳的灵感来源于双曲抛物面,又称马鞍面。整张凳子的曲面由无数个抛物线构成。设计师希望通过这张凳子来表达数学的美。

    SADDLE SURFACE STOOL

    HP Stool is inspired by the mathematics definition of hyperbolic paraboloid. A hyperbolic paraboloid is a doubly ruled surface shaped like a saddle. The shape of this stool is formed from numerous parabolas. The designer wants to create a stool with the beauty of mathematics.

    该作品的设计初衷在于解决日常生活中借助凳子爬高站不稳的问题。作品从起重机支脚获得灵感,使用连杆与齿轮机构实现了凳面高度和支撑面积大小的变换。当使用凳子爬高时,提起座面,支脚会展开,抬高座面的同时提供更稳支撑。再次提起座面,支脚收束恢复原状。

    Crane Stool is designed to be stable for reaching tall. Linkage and gear structures inspired by crane outriggers, adjust the height and supporting area of the stool. Lift the stool, the outriggers will be deployed to elevate and stabilize the stool. Lift it again, the outriggers will be retrieved.

    这是一款居家办公站立式凳子,“歧鹿”的造型灵感来源于鹿,稳重而空灵的姿态,拥有坐骑属性却又带有轻盈的灵性。

    QiLu Stool

    This is a standing stool for home and office. "Qi Lu" is inspired by deer's stable and ethereal posture. It has riding attributes but has light spirituality.

    学习蝴蝶凳自身的曲线,将四个支架改进为三个,来创建符合人体工学的三角形坐面。坐面可以按需求更换。整个凳子曲线向前内收拢,中心为前倾,有小巧精致之感。

    THE TAP STOOL

    Change the steel frame of the BKF chair from four to three, to create an ergonomic sitting surface which is replaceable. The whole curve of the stool is folded forward and inward, and the center of gravity is leaning forward slightly, which makes it look delicate.

    The stool has soul and maybe bone. I hope the bone stool can bring interest to your life. In fact, all the skeletons around are deeply buried. Maybe it can help you when you don't have eyes to stare at in the middle of the night Scare away the thief.

    从设计使人以健康姿势放松的凳子出发,小憩凳以瑜伽中的盘腿坐为灵感来源,以最贴近人体、最简单淳朴的方式创造了底脚矮凳,带给人们精神宁静、真正健康和放松的感觉与空间。

    Napping stool

    Starting from a stool designed to make people relax in a healthy posture, the small rest stool takes the cross-legged sitting in yoga as the inspiration source, and creates the foot stool in the most close to the human body, the most simple way, and brings people peace of mind, true health and feeling of relaxation and space.

    扭动凳 Twisting Stool(320*320*420mm)

    为“多动”人群设计了一款可以扭动的凳子。凳子关键部位为五金万向轮件,可以自由转动。凳子全身由旋转体构成,中间填放橡胶小球以达到一定缓冲效果。可以通过旋转万向轮件调整调整凳面高低从而改变凳面扭动幅度。尝试者可坐在上面任意扭动以满足既惊险又有趣的“坐体验”

    For the "hyperactive" crowd, a twisting stool was designed. The key part of the stool is metal universal wheels, which can rotate freely. The whole body of the stool is composed of a rotating body, and rubber balls are filled in the middle to achieve a certain cushioning effect. The height of the stool can be adjusted by rotating universal wheels to change the twisting range of the stool.

    People can sit on it and twist freely to satisfy the thrilling and interesting "sitting experience".

    这把凳子的设计初衷在于改变凳子腿和凳面的互动方式,让靠腰和凳腿连为一体从凳面两侧盘延而上,给扇形凳面延伸感。

    The original design intention of the stool is to change the interaction mode between the stool legs and the stool surface, so that the waist and stool legs are connected as a whole, extending from both sides of the stool surface to give the fan-shaped stool surface an extension feeling.

    〇凳”0”Stool(450*450*400mm)

    我试图将产品形式与功能两个部分结合起来。形式不是服从于功能,而是形式造就功能,功能产生形式。〇凳的功能是摇凳,形式来源于经典孟菲斯派家具的纯粹几何形,这两者相互结合产生的圆形成为了这个产品最重要的部分。这两个圆形既构成产品的形式又承担了“摇摆”的功能,同时这也是本产品最大的创新点——将之前从未出现在摇椅上的完整圆弧呈现出来,并在最终的表现上利用不同的木材以及处理方法不断凸显〇的存在。

    In this product, I am trying to combine the form and function. The most vital form also leads to the main function. In this case, the “O” in the stool stands for the classic Memphis style while it gives rise to the function of a rocking stool. And this is the most creative design thinking in this stool as well.

    虎鲸凳KILLER WHALE STOOL(500*450*400mm)

    虎鲸凳的灵感来源于形态优雅的虎鲸,同时在造型上致敬Eames夫妇设计的胶合板椅,材料与制作工艺采用了胶合板工艺制作。用弯曲的木板创作出灵动的造型,凳子的后腿向上优雅的伸展,宛如虎鲸向海面用力扑下的尾鳍。

    The killer whale stool is inspired by the elegant shape of the killer whale. At the same time, it pays tribute to the plywood chair designed by the Eames couple. The material and production process are made of plywood. Using curved wooden boards to create an elegant shape, the back legs of the stool stretch upwards gracefully, just like the tail fin of a killer whale leaping toward the sea.

    SITTING STOOL(350*140*500mm)

    拐杖作为临时性的医疗用具,在短暂的使用后就被闲置,拐杖所的具有的轻量和高强度的性能没有得到充分的利用。本方案探究延长拐杖材料生命周期的可能性,将拐杖运用到需要相同材料特点的凳子上,在设计上突出了轻盈,现代,不对称,趣味的设计语言,配上相符性质的松木作为座面,完成了一个医疗工具到一个坐具的转化,故命名为Sitting TOOL.

    Crutches, as a temporary medical tool, would remain idle after a short duty, and its capability to be light and strong would be wasted. This project focuses on the possibility of the afterlife of crutches and transform it to a stool which exactly needs the capability. And I chose the pine to match the lightness, modern, asymmetry and joy which my design tends to covey.      

    A medical tool turns into a tool for sitting(STOOL), so I call it Sitting TOOL.

    这是一把为两个人坐下而设计的小板凳,设计灵感来源于汉字“坐”。众所周知,凳子的基本功能就是让人们去“坐”,我们也在不断地围绕着“坐”思考和产生设计。但是当我们回归简单、原始的本真,将常见的汉字放大到实物中,并与它的功能载体结合起来,人们坐上这把凳子,又会获得怎样有趣的视觉体验?

    This is a small bench designed for two people to sit down, inspired by the Chinese character "sit". As we all know, the basic function of a stool is to let people "sit", and we are constantly thinking and generating designs around "sit". But when we return to the simple and primitive authenticity, magnify the common Chinese characters into the real thing and combine it with its functional carrier, what kind of interesting visual experience will people get when they sit on this stool?

    Deconstruct the elements of Y-chair, continuing its light and graceful characteristics, to design the Y-stool which provide a comfortable seat for chatting and resting.

    小板凳对于人来说,最主要的功能而又最基础的功能是“坐”。但自古“坐”就有“坐”、“请坐”、“请上座”的区别,我希望不是只有人的行为来展示这些互动,而是让板凳也具有人的情怀,主动地“邀请”人坐。

    Small bench for people, the most important function and the most basic function is "sitting". Since ancient times, the only difference between "sitting on the bench" and "inviting people to sit on the bench" is not "inviting people to sit on the bench", but "inviting people to sit on the bench".
